New teams and drivers enter the SuperCup for 2015....

A busy 4 days at the AutoSport International Show which took place at the NEC in Birmingham, saw the famous Paul Sheard Autos #18 SuperCup race car taking pride of place on the BRSCC Mazda stand, alongside a car from the Mk1 Championship. With championship representatives on hand to discuss the SuperCup over the course of the show, it was clear from the amount of interest from prospective teams and drivers that the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup will be one of THE club championships to watch in 2015!

We take a look at some of the new entrants in the MX-5 SuperCup for 2015....

BRSCC Mazda MK1 championship top 3 graduate to the MX-5 SuperCup!

The top three drivers in the final points standings from the 2014 BRSCC MX-5 Mk1 championship have all announced their intentions to step up to the Mazda SuperCup in 2015. Mk1 championship winner and AutoSport magazines 'Club Driver of 2014', James Blake Baldwin will continue his fierce rivalry with runner up Alan Henderson and third place Jonathan ‘JJ’ Clements. All three are all well underway with preparations for racing in the MX-5 SuperCup in 2015, it’s going to be an enthralling season seeing which one these talented drivers will be able to most quickly adapt to the extra power and grip of the SuperCup cars.

The North East based MX-5 specialists are hoping to carry on their success from the Mk1 championship by building 2 brand new SuperCup cars for the coming season, one of which is to be campaigned by Mk1 front runner Alan Henderson.

Mk1 Mazda and Lotus race specialists, Blink Motorsports are bringing their expertise to the SuperCup with the team making multi-car assault on the championship in 2015. Experienced MX-5 Mk3 SuperCup campaigners Boreham Motorsport have teamed up with 2013 title winner, Andrew Clarkson to offer ‘Arrive and Drive’ support and preparation packages for the 2015 season. In addition to this, Boreham’s Ray Worley will continue to compete himself and offer assistance to the Barnet and Southgate College Motorsport team.

The Wraysbury based team are set to continue their championship involvement, supporting new driver Ben Webster who has already been spotted out testing and getting his first taste of the SuperCup ready for the coming season.

New to the Championship in 2014 with a strong background in karting but limited experience in cars, the young teenager went on to show himself as one of the stars to look for in 2015 by taking a double victory at the final rounds of the championship at Donington Park. Liam is now getting stuck into the build of a second race car which will be available for the coming season.

Following a successful 2014 season which included multiple race wins for guest driver, ex-BTCC star Paul O’Neill and numerous team podiums, the championship stalwarts will again return to the series looking for more success and no doubt hoping to mount a challenge for the overall title, along with offering exstensive Arrive and Drive and new race car build services.


It doesn’t stop there!...

There are a number of other new drivers also preparing to join the ranks of the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup, it is rumoured amongst whom are to be winners from two other UK club championships adding their name to the roster of previous national champions from a variety of formulae who already take part in the SuperCup. Along with them are the other returning drivers who enjoyed a fantastic years racing in 2014, meaning this season is shaping up to be the most successful and most competitive ever in the history of the MX-5 SuperCup!
